Oregon is a state located on the Pacific coast of the northwestern United States, and its nickname is “The Beaver State.” It is well known as a place rich in nature, where forests, rivers, and mountains blend together. In the 50 States quarter series it was issued 33rd.
The reverse of the coin contains the appearance of Crater Lake National Park, and below are engraved the letters “Crater Lake.”
Crater Lake is a beautiful natural landmark representing Oregon, widely loved for its deep, clear blue water. By placing the scenery of this lake on one face of the coin, it shows how much Oregon cherishes and takes pride in its nature.
Oregon became an official state of the United States on February 14, 1859, 33rd in order.
When you look at this coin, instead of a person or a building, the quiet scenery of a lake catches the eye first. Oregon, in effect, chose “serene and deep nature” as its own point of pride.
