Kisatchie National Forest

Kisatchie National Forest is the only national forest in the state of Louisiana, located in the southern United States. As a broad expanse of nature where pine forests, meadows, wetlands, and hills come together, it is a precious southern forest where a variety of wildlife lives.

The longleaf pine forest and the bluestem meadow are natural environments distinctive to the South, and protecting and restoring this pine forest, which was once widespread, is also an important nature conservation task today.

Kisatchie National Forest was designated on June 3, 1936. It began to be protected as a national forest in order to restore forests damaged by logging and the like and to safeguard the water and wildlife.
